Beijing Wanbao - Line 1

In this lesson, you will follow a different learning progression than in the previous lessons.  Before, you focused exclusively on the phonemes and rhythm, but now you will do:

• Rhythm
• Phonemes
• AND Tones

You might find the tonal part a bit tricky, but listen to the audio files over and over again and the tones will slowly seep into your brain.  Do not try to think about what number the tones are, as this type of overthinking will distract you from the true task of mimicking.  Just listen closely and try your best to match the sounds of the audio aids.

Tonal Infusion

Finally, we add in the tones. In the track below, the syllables are held constant (everything is "ma"), but I mimic the artists tonal progression exactly.

• Listen closely and sing along with me, matching my rhythm and tones EXACTLY.
• I recommend listening with earphones, so you can feel your vibration of your voice box matching what you are hearing exactly. 
• Do NOT think about what the tones are, as this will just distract you.  Instead, focus exclusively on matching the pitches.
• Once you are comfortable singing along with me, sing it out loud to yourself a few times without the audio aid.
